HISTORY

Street wear originated in the early 90s, in the hip-hop scenes of New York, the surf-skate and graffiti culture of Los Angeles and within the Japan fashion wear.

It refers to street wear due to it’s different style of fashion sense, which has it’s origin from California and skate culture but also has some elements from hip-hop fashion,modern high fashion and haute couture. It’s mainly characterized by comfortable relaxed clothing, often oversized and intrepid graphic designs.

Street wear can be categorized as a particular style that originated from the British fashion culture.It includes styles that are different from main stream fashion and is based on individualism with any strict and restricted focus on daily trends.

Street wear has evolved over the years.It has led to different clothing brands within different parts of the world.Born out of the New York hip-hop scene, street wear has mainly evolved with the Californian and Japanese fashion style.

Street wear has become one of the latest fashion styles among most teens and youth,not forgetting children.In Kenya,street wear is the predominant style of choice.Nairobi street fashion has grown enormously in such a way that literally 80% of the people put on street wear; especially if one goes to town, you’ll bump into several people with this weat.Also, street wear has become quite popular in universities.
